In the years since March 11, 2011, there has been tremendous progress in restoring most of the coastal areas of Fukushima prefecture. Each year the no-entry contaminated zones are shrinking, and more former residents are gradually returning to their communities once again. To visit these areas today, one would find it difficult to imagine the destruction caused by the triple-disaster years earlier. However, despite such incredible progress, the residents of Fukushima still face ongoing difficulties. Tourism and agriculture continue to suffer due to irrational fears about the safety of Fukushima and anything produced here. This wall calendar project was founded because of our desire to address these concerns, and to show the world that our prefecture is still the safe and wonderful place that we residents of Fukushima know it to be. This is our purpose, and this is our message.

This is Fukushima.
